US dollar, European euro and Russian ruble became "beyond the law" in Kazakhstan. Now, citizens of Kazakhstan not only have to learn to count in national currency but to think in tenge. This government rule will be operated in websites first. However, right after changing the prices to tenge, people start to confuse about the prices "before" and "after".
According to Kapital.kz, commercial websites in Kazakhstan have to switch the prices into national currency from February 2. A new way of de-dollarization concerns all website which involved to electronic trading.
"Kazakhstan actively promoted the new way of de-dollarization. In my opinion, it has to be made a long time ago. Subsequently, this kind of problems would not arise. Now, people need to take the time to get used to this new system," Yevgeny Kubekov, chief editor of the commercial site Motor.kz, explained.
Kazakh community needs the certain time to learn to estimate large purchases only at tenge, according to experts.
"I don't think that people will pursue exchange rates and change the price tags to their selling product. There is no sense to adjust the prices constantly. Nobody would buy a car for 2,1 million tenges if it was T2 million yesterday. At the present time, it depends on trade futures. It doesn't matter in which currency you tagged your product online. There must be inquiries by buyers," Mr. Kubekov noted.
Difficulties in adapting
However, the majority of commercial websites were in chaos on the first day. According to the chief editor of Motor.kz, It was provoked by users, he considers, by sellers.
Actually, the tendency of calculations in national currency was started last year. According to data of Kolesa.kz, since August 2015, people started to purchase their product in tenge. In numbers, this was 13,9% of all announcements in the website. Now, this number is above 33,9%.
Kazakh Leader urged citizens of Kazakhstan to forget about the dollar and live in tenge. "Let's take a deep breath and forget about the dollar. We live in Kazakhstan. We buy everything for tenge and trade in tenge," Head-of-the-State said.
