Deputies of Parliament of Tajikistan is about to discuss the amendments to the Constitution to provide for reducing the age of the candidate for the presidency from 35 to 30 years, News Agency of Central Asia reports.
According to the official resources, these amendments will grant Rustam Emomali, the eldest son of the current president of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmon, to propose himself as a candidate at the presidential election which is going to be held in 2020.
"Rustam Emomali who will be only 33 years old by 2020, according to the Constitution has no right to propose himself as a presidential candidate. According to the Constitution of the country, each citizen who is aging 35 years has the right to propose himself as a candidate on the presidential election", Agency noted.
Meanwhile, it is noted in the Constitution of Tajikistan, a person has the right to be elected to the post of the president of the country for two seven-year terms.
