Tajikistan paid back all debts to Kazakhstan

Tajikistan, a post-soviet country in the south-east of Central Asia, completely repaid all its debts to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. But Tajik state still has external debts and it was increased to 4,14% last year.

According to Jamshed Karimzoda, the first deputy of Tajik Minister of Finance, Tajikistan had the debt to Kazakhstan with the sum of 4,347 billion tenges ($11.5 million) in the beginning of 2015.

For the beginning of 2016, The total amount of an external debt of Tajikistan composed 778 billion tenges ($2 billion). Showed amount is 27,8% of country's nominal GDP. This indicator was equal  to 22,5% in last year, according to Asia Plus.

Mr Karimzoda assured that this is the result of the depreciation of the national currency and reduction of real GDP.

Tajikistan's biggest debt remains, as usual, in front of China (over 930 million US dollars). Out of that, Tajik government has to pay back to the World bank (more than $318 million) and Asian Development Bank ($270 million).
